4,10 & 19 September A Guided Walk Around St James’s
John King is your guide on this walk around the part of London between Piccadilly and the Mall. Better known as ‘Clubland’, the area has some surprising back lanes and buildings, including the house to which news of the victory of the Battle of Waterloo was delivered. John will point out several notable clubs, the location of one of the largest wine cellars in the world (sorry, entry not included), you’ll ‘visit’ the Republic of Texas and see the location of a dog burial.
You’ll need to participate actively in listening to a clock as well as determining the materials used for making telephone boxes.
