Wed,18th April, Tues 24th April, Thur, 3rd May – A Walk around Albertopolis – Led by John King
If you are not sure where Albertopolis is located, it is in fact the museum and academic quarter of South Kensington, London.
The walk will take us through an area largely created by the initiatives of Prince Albert – an area which most people will think they know but which will reveal some hidden secrets, including a remnant of the Great Exhibition of 1851, a quiet tree-lined square as well as a long closed Underground Station.
The walk will be led by John King and will take about two hours. Most of the walk is on the level but does include several sets of steps.
The meeting point will be Wimbledon, from there we will travel on the District Line to South Kensington.
Cost: 50p pp admin charge collected on the day.
Meeting time/point: 10.15 am on the Underground concourse at Wimbledon Station
