21st Sept Surrey Network Study Day – Major Infrastructure Projects

A  Study Day on Friday, 21st September 2018 At The Menuhin Hall, Stoke d’Abernon

Speakers: John Kennedy, Alan Dyke & Bernard Gambrill

A day on the three major railway projects of our time:-
the Channel Tunnel which has the longest undersea section in the world,
the high speed link from St Pancras to the Channel tunnel which reduces the time taken to get to

Paris to just over two hours,
Crossrail which provides a high capacity link across London and easier access to Heathrow.

All presented by engineers who worked on them and know the inside story.

Speaker – John Kennedy was a Chartered Mechanical Engineer who was seconded to Eurotunnel for the eight years from the start of construction to the opening of the tunnel.
Alan Dyke is a Chartered Civil Engineer whose working life has been on railway engineering projects. Bernard Gambrill is a Chartered Civil Engineer who has worked on the management of new railways.

Surrey Network study days are open to members of all U3As in Surrey and the surrounding area. They are held in the Menuhin Hall, Stoke d’Abernon and normally start at 9.30am with registration and finish at 4pm. The fee, including coffee tea and biscuits, is £10, though a visitor who is not a member of a U3A will be charged £12.

Attendees should bring a packed lunch. Prior booking is essential and forms are available at the monthly meetings or from the Surrey Network internet site www.u3asites.org.uk/surreyu3anetwork
There will be no Study Days for the holiday months of July and August.
