16th October – Visit: The Museum of Brands
Visit: Museum of Brands This museum, opened in 1984, aims to show a history of British lifestyle and consumerism, from the Victorian period to the present day, by displaying the contemporary household packaging, magazines, toys, war-time ephemera, travel and technology.
A 40-minute talk before we begin the visit will explain the history of the collection and also show how the museum is today involved with research into changing and reducing packaging to make it more sustainable for the future.
Date: Wednesday, 16 October Meeting Time/Place: 10.15am in front of Richmond station Travel: We’ll take the District Line to Hammersmith, change onto the Circle Line and get off at Ladbroke Grove station.
The museum is a five-minute walk away. Cost: £14.25 per person for museum entry, introductory talk and coffee on arrival)
